Stoke Mandeville Stadium on Guttmann Road in Aylesbury is going green this December as it invests in updating the swimming pool lighting for a more eco-friendly system.
The new lighting is expected to reduce energy consumption by 75% year on year and help the local sports and leisure facility reduce its carbon footprint.
In order to install this new lighting system, the swimming pool programme will be slightly affected. Week commencing 5th December, the pool will be closed from 7am until 4pm each day. However, it will re-open at 4pm for the Swim School classes and will remain open for the rest of the evening. A normal pool programme will resume on Saturday 10th December.
Ian Seabrook from Stoke Mandeville Stadium says: “This work is urgently required from a health and safety point of view – to improve pool hall visibility and of course to help us reduce our carbon footprint. We appreciate the support and patience of our swimmers during this period of necessary works. The end result will be worth it.”
