Vanessa Cotton Scholarship 2014 open for submissions

The Vanessa Cotton Scholarship 2014, which was created to recognise and support ambitious and bright students graduating from event management degrees, is now open for submissions.

Available to current MPI student members, the scholarship will cover all the expenses of one talented individual to join MPI European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC) 1-3 February 2015. The event takes place in Krakow, Poland and enables one student to experience the professional development and networking opportunities available.

The winner of the scholarship will also be able to attend educational sessions and network with more than 200 event professionals, alongside current MPI board members.

The Scholarship pays homage to the late Vanessa Cotton, who was one of the founding members of MPI UK & Ireland and who played a significant leadership role in the professionalism of the meetings and events sector both in the UK and internationally.

Jane Baker, VP of Education for the MPI UK & Ireland Chapter, commented: “Vanessa was one of the founder members of the UK and Ireland Chapter of MPI. The scholarship is a unique opportunity to empower student members who have the drive and passion to make their mark in the events industry.

“In Vanessa’s memory we are rewarding a student who has demonstrated outstanding communication skills and a strong desire for personal development. We will be announcing the winner of the scholarship at EIBTM.”

Judges this year include Robert Quayle from Astra Zeneca, Fay Sharpe from Zibrant, Viki Stapleton from Schroders, Jane Hague from Excel London, Karen Walters from Eventful Connections and Kim Myhre from FreemanXP.

MPI is a major champion in fostering the next generation of meetings professionals. The scholarship is funded by, ExCeL London, Reed Travel Expo and the MPI UK & Ireland Chapter. Individuals or organizations interested in supporting this scholarship should contact the chapter.

The annoucement of the winner will be made at EIBTM on the 18th November.
