Canterbury Cathedral Lodge celebrates Kent Excellence in Business best tourism business success

Canterbury Cathedral Lodge has been celebrating making the finals of the Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA) best leisure and tourism business of the year.

The highly regarded award is given to a business that demonstrates outstanding performance in the delivery of leisure, tourism, visitor attractions or hospitality. Forty businesses made it through to the KEiBA finals in 13 categories and Canterbury Cathedral Lodge was the only hotel and conference venue amongst them.

The Lodge made it to a shortlist of three in the leisure and tourism category and narrowly missed out on winning the award, which was presented in the company of 450 business people from across the county at Gillingham Football Club last night (28 June).

Proving its credentials in a rigorous judging process, it is the second time the Lodge’s team has been recognised for outstanding service in Kent this year. Judges complimented Cathedral Lodge on its commercial success, evidence of growth, delivery of innovations and improvements, improved numbers of customers and levels of customer satisfaction.

James Perry, General Manager at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge said: “Making the final is a great result for everyone in our team. We are doubly delighted as the accolade builds on our being crowned ‘Customer Service Excellence’ business of the year at the prestigious Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in March. Cathedral Lodge has not entered any awards previously and to make two finals and win one at the first attempt is a wonderful compliment to the service we provide.”

The two other businesses shortlisted in the leisure and tourism category were the Aspinall Foundation, who were winners, and Kent County Cricket Club.

Canterbury Cathedral Lodge is a 35 bedroom hotel and conference venue located within the inspirational grounds of Canterbury Cathedral. It is owned by the Cathedral and provides the perfect getaway destination for anyone visiting historic Canterbury. Also popular with conference organisers, the Lodge has an impressive 250 seat auditorium and a series of function rooms allowing it to cater for anything from a small meeting to a large delegate event.
