New conference venues to be built at St George's Park

A new conference facility is set to be built at the FA's National Football Centre (NFC) in Burton-upon-Trent.

The FA has begun a public consultation on the plans to build a 150-bedroom four-star hotel, an 80-bedroom three-star hotel and conference and banqueting venues, including a 90-seat lecture theatre.

In addition, there will be state-of-the-art sporting facilities, including 12 full-size football pitches, a flexible indoor sports hall, a cutting-edge gym and hydrotherapy suite plus sports medicine and sports science facilities.

The project is a collaborative venture between the FA and sponsors Umbro, with the first step being to rename the NFC, changing it to St George's Park.

"We have consulted extensively over the last 12 months with the many organisations involved in English football and as stakeholders in this project they have pledged their strong support," said NFC board chairman David Sheepshanks.

Last week, Sanguine Hospitality Management announced that it is considering adding to the Cheshire venues offering with a new purpose-built conference centre and theatre
