UK catering and hospitality specialists, Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events (PV&E), cater for Scotland Manager, Gordon Strachan, as he attends Huntly Football Club’s first inaugural sportsman’s lunch at Aberdeen FC's Pittodrie Stadium.
A legend at Aberdeen Football Club after making his name there under Alex Ferguson’s management, Strachan has returned to his old turf as guest speaker for the lunch.
The event was put together to raise funds for semi-professional Highland club, Huntly, who chose the iconic location due to Strachan’s ties with the club.
PV&E, the catering and hospitality partners at Aberdeen Football Club, put together the menu for the special occasion.
Over 300 guests attended the lunch, which featured a raffle and an auction as part of the club fundraiser, held in the stadium's well known hospitality suite - the Aberdeen Asset Management Lounge.
Paul Quick, General Manager at Aberdeen Football Club said: “It’s great to have Huntly FC choose Pittodrie as their venue of choice for their first sportsman’s lunch.
“It’s also a huge thrill to have Gordon Strachan coming home to the venue which established his reputation at the beginning of his career as he is still such an icon in the city.
“The lunch is an excellent opportunity to showcase the potential Pittodrie has as a venue for sporting lunches and dinners, as well as being a great chance for our team of Sodexo Prestige chefs to display their culinary talents.
“The menu put together for the occasion incorporated top Scottish ingredients such as beef from the nearby town of Inverurie, which confirms our commitment to using fresh, local produce wherever possible in our menus.
“We know how important these kinds of events are for raising money to go towards the daily upkeep of a football club, so we are delighted to be the venue of choice for Huntly FC.”
The auction will include prizes such as golf packages for Skibo Castle and Royal Dornoch, as well as a VIP day for four and hospitality tickets for the director’s box at Aberdeen.
For the event, Huntly FC have also made a generous donation to Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust, a charity run by Aberdeen FC that looks to provide support for the development and delivery of local community programmes associated with the club.
Aberdeen Football Club, which is just five minutes from the city centre and has parking for 600 cars, boasts some of the best hospitality facilities in the country. The venue has a wide choice of 9 event rooms, catering from 2 - 400 guests and tailored all-inclusive packages to suit individual requirements.
