£4m conference centre opens in West Yorkshire

A restaurant group in West Yorkshire has opened a £4 million state-of-the-art conference and banqueting centre, creating 50 jobs in the process.

Indian eaterie Aagrah's venue, at the Gallagher Leisure Park, Thornbury, can accommodate up to 700 delegates and 450 for dining.

A corporate launch of the conference centre is being held today and will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe.

Mohammed Aslam, managing director of the Aagrah group, says the Midpoint Suite is the first purpose-built venue of its kind to be set up by an independent Yorkshire company, adding that it "will offer something new and unique".

"We've received many advance bookings ahead of the opening and we're looking forward to hosting the events," he enthuses.

The new centre is the latest boost for Bradford venues, after the Telegraph and Argus reported last week that £250 million worth of regeneration building projects, including hotel and conferencing facilities, were either underway or about to start in the city.
