According to a new report from chesterchronicle.co.uk, the success of Cheshire venues is making Chester "a major conference centre".
Chester Racecourse has been the city's primary conference venue in the last few months, with 300 delegates recently attending a conference for the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, while nearly 500 guests will be attending the Britain in Bloom final in the next few days. Local authorities are to meet to discuss different ways of maximising Chester's opportunities and facilities as one of the leading Cheshire venues.
Chris Brown, chief executive of Visit Chester and Cheshire, told the website: "We need to manage supply and demand and give more focus to developing conference opportunities and growing that part of our business."
A number of new hotels and other residences are currently in development in the city, with 1,000 extra beds to be made available within the next three years. One aim is to encourage delegates to stay on in the city for a short break.
According to a report from iccheshireonline.co.uk, the city may also see a growth in its student population, as the University of Chester has climbed 13 places in the Sunday Times University Guide.
