Hilton venues to get £20m makeover

Some of the UK's best-known Hilton hotels are to get major makeovers as part of a £20 million refurbishment programme.

In total, 16 venues will benefit from the renovation work, with bedrooms, bars, restaurants and public areas all being updated.

The hotel brand will also be launching The Space, an innovative new lounge concept which will be used for events.

Each of the 16 hotels which are being refurbished are owned by property mogul Igal Ahouvi and his partners, but operated by the Hilton brand under management agreements.

"We hope that as a result of the investment, and under the expert management of Hilton, the hotels will be well placed to benefit from the economic recovery as it develops and gains pace," said Hugh Taylor, chief executive officer for Mr Ahouvi's hotel businesses.

The Tate Modern is currently undergoing a £215 million extension to create 60 per cent more event space.
