Madame Tussauds London hosts inaugural 'Loved up' pop-up restaurant

Madame Tussauds London welcomed couples and industry professionals including representatives from Parabis, AOK Events and Wedgewood Britain to its very first ‘Loved Up’ pop-up restaurant on Friday 14th February.

On arrival guests enjoyed scented rose petal martinis and canapés including Devils and Angels on horseback in the Party reception room. Surrounded by A-List stars including Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, it wasn’t long before guests were taking selfies and striking poses alongside their favourite celebrities.

Later guests headed to the World Stage, transformed into a fabulous supper club setting with beautifully lit tables featuring candelabras dressed with ivy. Ornate chandeliers overhead, sparkling glitter balls and hues of red and purple lighting created an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. One table sat screen starlet Audrey Hepburn in the infamous ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ black Givenchy dress; guests were able to sit by her side and pose for snaps. A large screen played romantic clips from films including ‘Gone with the Wind’, ‘From Now and Till Eternity’ and ‘Casablanca’. Nate James, from ‘The Voice’ fame, entertained with soulful cabaret singing a mixture of classic and contemporary songs. His set began with a rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I have nothing’ and other songs included ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ and ‘Let’s Stay Together’.

Brit Award caterers Payne & Gunter served a delicious 3 course dinner with matching wines. Guests feasted on a sharing plate starter ‘it takes two’ of Dorset crab mousse with watermelon heart, skewers of passion prawns, scallop ceviche with avocado cream and lobster cream soup which was followed by a palate cleansing Champagne sorbet. The main course ‘roll in the hay’ included hay-baked salt marsh lamb cutlet, mini shepherd’s pie, spring greens, minted pea puree and a red wine jus. Dessert was a ‘threesome’ of a chocolate heart filled with raspberry mousse, raspberry ice-cream pop with chocolate dipping sauce and a raspberry meringue kiss, followed by coffee, passion fruit macaroons and a flaming Sambuca shot.
